Kodak Tests of Digital
Prints, PDF: TPR conducted an extensive test on the stability of
photographic prints made from a variety of systems from multiple vendors.
The report compares the performance of the various images under accelerated
conditions to assess their respective permanence and to make life
projections.
Overview: Accuracy in Photo Print Life Prediction,
PDF: Although the methodology for
developing life predictions has been in use for some years in the industry,
it is becoming clear that the implied precision in the use of a single value
in years cannot be scientifically supported due to much variability between
the measurement of an assumed exposure and the actual exposure and
observation conditions. Current print life predictions are likely to be
invalid in almost all real life exposure situations and the data for the
long term effects of combined exposures is scant to say the least. This
paper examines the implications of this on real life print exposure.

Exec Summary -
Accelerated Life Testing
of Digital Images,
PDF: This document
summarizes
the effects of various
contaminants (such common durability factors as UV light, pollutants,
temperature and humidity) as well as "casual contaminants"
on the life time of digital images. Other
factors tested included handling and accidental
contaminants, storage contaminants, and writing inks.
Conclusions and recommendations for developing test standards are
included.

Contaminants on
Ink Jet Photo,
PDF: This document contains an enhanced slide
presentation of the results of the above accelerated life test study.
Image Permanence - Comparing The Technologies ,PDF: The paper addresses
image permanence performance among inkjet, silver halide, EP, and thermal
printer systems. Testing and methods are discussed, with conclusions and
recommendations. The paper was presented by Peter Mason, TPR's Senior VP and
CTO at the IS&T NIP 23 conference in Anchorage, Alaska on September 20,
2007. ***
